METALLICA will reportedly play a medley of MTV hits as well as new songs during their performance at the show Thursday night (August 28),according to Tom Calderone, MTV/MTV2 Executive VP Music And Talent Programming.

"METALLICA is working up something that they are saying no one has ever heard them do before," Calderone told the Hollywood Reporter. "The thing that people tune in for is that you just don't know what's going to happen."

As previously reported, METALLICA will follow up their performance at the "MTV Video Music Awards" by cramming into New York's 500-capacity Bowery Ballroom on Friday (August 29) for a show open only to fan club members and radio contest winners.

"That's gonna be so cool," drummer Lars Ulrich told the New York Post. "We're gonna make that floor shake."

The Bowery Ballroom show is being organized by local radio station WXRX, which began distributing tickets last week. METALLICA's fan club is also giving away tickets to random members who entered online by last Friday.

METALLICA's latest album, "St. Anger", debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and has sold 1.3 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
